Rosa Wasanthe is the most recent work of Udaykantha Warnasooriya and the director will leave for India to give it the final touches.
The cast comprising a number of youngsters includes Nissansala Jayathunge who will be making her film debut. The rest of the cast includes Ranjan Ramanayake, Kanchana Mendis, Semini Iddamalgoda, Wijeratne Warakagoda, Sanjeewani Perera and Buddhika Jayaratne.
Filmed mostly around the Colombo city, Nuwara Eliya, Kurunegala, Kothmale and Minipe the film is expected to be released soon.
Rosa Wasanthe is based on the story "Parasathu Uyana" published in the comic magazine 'Sathuta'.
The tragic love story revolves around two boys of whom one has urban connections while the other is a rural lad.
According to the director Udayakantha Warnasuriya the film falls in to the category of popular films but it preserves its artistic quality.
The technical crew has Stanley De Alwis as editor, Chandana Samarasekera as art director and Donald Jayantha and Priyantha Pathirage as assistant directors.
To the music score of Rohana Weerasinghe, the play back singing was done by Gratian Ananda, Nirosha Virajani and Samitha Mudunkotuwa.
The lyrics were written for the three songs in the film by Bandara Ehaliyagoda, Kularatne Ariyawansa and Bandula Nanayak-karawasam.
