Ape Yalu Punchi Buthaya is eighth directorial venture of Lal Priyadeva who has given box office hits such as “Joly Hello 1 & 2”, “Nawatha Api Ekwemu”, “Vishma Rathriya”, “Pathiniyakage Horawa”, “Nommara Eke Chandiya”, “Ali Patiyo Oyai Mamai” which was the most successful film at the box office, his latest being “Mago Digo Dai” which is currently being screened at the theatres. He has been in this trade for the last 23 years first as a script writer, editor, assistant director and a director.

Ape Yalu Punchi Buthaya takes a different dimension towards creativity with latest technology being used for animations and special effects, which caters specially to the family ordiance especially for the children. The versatile director shows his utmost versatility in carving out an extremely beautiful film which will be a treat to watch.

The main cast of the film Bandu, Tennyson, Ananda Wickramage, Dhanushka Iroshini gives a tremendous impact to the commercial aspect of the film.

The absorbing lyrics of Prof. Sunil Ariyarathne and the melodious musical score rendered by Visharadha Edward Jayakody takes the film to amazing heights.

Special visual effects were brilliantly handled by “Dreams and Magic” of Sri Lanka.

Cinematography is by the experienced Lalith M Thomas Editing done by Siddhartha Nayanananda Stunts Directed by extremely talented and experienced Teddy Vidyalankara Make- up by Manoj Kumar Selvaraj and his team APE YALU PUNCHI BUTHAYA is the maiden venture of Balaji Cine Films the producer being N. Udayakumar who is not a newcomer to the Sri Lankan film industry he has co produced two successful Sinhala Films “Somy Boys” and “Ali Patiyo Oyai Mamai”.

A small village with absolute scenic beauty.

To bring added glamour to the village a tiny island (Islet) is situated surrounded by a lake from which a stream flows through the village.

In the island there is a dilapidated ancestral house (Walauwa) which is supposed to be a haunting ground of a ghost. The villagers are in internal fear of being haunted by the ghost.

In the ancestral dilapidated house lives a elderly and a cruel man called “Dingi Gurunnanse” possessed with evil powers and he has managed to take the ghost under his spell to get the hidden treasure in the house.

There are few inquisitive alert and persuasive kids Bhagya, Tharindu and Tharaka in the village school.

One day they happened to see the old house and comes to know the story of a ghost and the hidden treasure in the island, their curiosity makes them to find the ghost who becomes very friendly with them.

The kids escape with the ghost to the village and make merry with the other kids as the ghost was not visible to the other people.

“Dingi Gurunnanse” comes to know that the ghost has escaped from his clutches and disappeared with the kids.

He finds the way to get the ghost under his spell back again, though the ghost detested in staying under his spell.

The children too try to keep the ghost for them selves as they derived tremendous pleasure by being with him and the battle goes on between the children and “Dingi Gurunnanse”. At last who will succeed? That for you to see the film and decide.
