Anurudda Jayasinghe, who first explored the Tele / cinema world as an Assistant Director, today is the renowned and acclaimed director of a number of popular and award winning Tele dramas and films. His film and television successes are 'Abhisamaya', 'Thattu Gewal', 'Dahasgawu Dura', 'Meeduma', 'Wiya Sidura', 'Dhawala kanya' and 'Maya Ranga' among others. Key milestones of his career include being adjudged the best Director at the OCIC festival in 2005, being awarded the best script at the State Tele Awards in 2005 and being a nominee for the best Director consecutively for the past years at leading National award ceremonies like ' Sumathi’, ‘Raigam’, ‘OCIC’ and ‘State Tele Awards.’
His debut film effort was 'Sankranthi', which competed in the 'World Cinema Section' of the International Film Festival of India in 2006. 'Dawala Duwili' his second film, has not yet been screened in Sri Lanka but was among the final ten films selected for the 'Competition Section of the International Film Festival of India in 2007. ‘Dawala Duwili’ was also nominated at a number of other international film festivals in the years 2008 and 2009.
Anuruddha was the first Director of Programmes of the 'Derana' Television Channel. He has worked as consultant to the state owned Media House 'Salacine' and is the director of the award winning TV commercial that won a Peoples Choice Award 'Api Wenuwen Api' which was produced on behalf of the Ministry of Defense.
Anuruddha continues to push his creative limits as a director and is respected for his ground breaking and bold masterpieces in the field of commercial production in the country.
